Unique Western Ghats

A habitat older than the Himalayas, traversing the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and part of Gujarat. Runs north to south along the western edge of the Deccan Plateau, and separates the plateau from a narrow coastal plain, called Konkan. A World Heritage Site and biodiversity hot-spot, also called as the Great Escarpment of India. Consist of Mountain range parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula which support high degree of endemism. That means, animals which are only found here and nowhere else in the world. It is the influencer of Indian monsoon.
